Lovable Dog Quotes

This is really true. Dogs are really affectionate. They give me unconditional love everyday.

They do not care how I smell or if I just had a really bad day. No matter what the situation is, they are happy to see me.

Dogs don’t even hold grudges. I can mess with their tail, keep away with their food, and pull on their ears, even if it frustrates them. And my dogs will forget all about it and treat me like their best bud within a couple minutes!

They are full-pledged family members. When one of them is sick, I worry and I bring him to the vet. If they are happy, so am I. When something is bothering them, it absolutely bothers me.

Dogs live short lives; maybe 15 years….. I know this when I accept the responsibility of dog parenting. But I will really try my very best to take care of them as they grow old no matter what.

I  welcome the term "furparent." I love it when someone call me a furmom; I never frown or correct them. In fact, a sense of delight swells in me.

I know that not everyone loves dogs. Some people even  hate them. But please do be sensitive. Be understanding to pet lovers like me who sometimes seem strange  the way we treat our dogs.

I spoil my dogs, some might say. I shop in the same stores as moms with human children. I tell my fur friends who, in turn, listen to me and my advice. They certainly do not need a blog inspired by their lives with mine.

And I know I am not alone.

My Waffle

This is Waffle, a female fox-type pomeranian.  I bought her from our neighbor who is a dog breeder. She is in the same age with Wiggle and Hachiko.

Honestly, when she was brought at home , I did not like her coz her fur was that dry and coarse and she has a black snout that you will be afraid to look at her. But since the breeder and I had agreement already, I still got Waffle.

When I had her at home, I made some research about pomeranian. I found out that the this type of breed has the so called "monkey/ugly stage". That is the reason why Waffle was like that when she first arrived.

But as months passed by, her beauty started to unfold.

At a young age, Waffle experienced some bad health problems. Last August 2014, her right front leg was fractured. For two months, we went to her vet for the bandaging session of her leg hoping that the fractured bone will get back to its place. I was so sad looking at her with bandage. I felt her difficulty when she tried to walk only with three legs. Come September, she had another sickness. There was a day that she vomited every thirty minutes which caused her to become weak. So I decided to bring her to her vet. Waffle had a blood test and the vet found out that her liver was not functioning well. We went home and tried to give her medicines but she did not get well. So I had to confine her to the clinic. The next day I thought she will be discharged since her x-ray results were okay. But when I got her, she pooped with blood. So the vet tested right away and found out that she had a corona parvo virus, a deadly virus. When I heard that, i tried not to cry because Waffle might be affected. I just cannot believed why she acquired the virus in spite of  a finished complete set of vaccines... but the vet said that it was still possible and warned me that she might not get through it since the virus is deadly.

Through prayers, Waffle survived. Thank God!!! Even if I paid more or less 8 thousand pesos, I am still happy coz she is still with me.

I have to admit that Waffle is my favorite among the five dogs  but of course I see to it that I give them same tender loving care that they need.

The Sons: Wiggle and Hachiko

This is Wiggle, a male chihuahua, one of the sons of Whitey and Wako. The family decided to keep him instead of selling him to other fur parents. He was born on July 24, 2014.

Wiggle is a very energetic dog. Maybe he acquired the qualities of Whitey his mother. He also loves to run and jump even when he is inside his cage.

And also Wiggle has a very good appetite. It seems that he is always hungry....hehe..especially he sees you eating, he will really bark at you, begging for food.

Lastly, this is Hachiko. He was the last puppy delivered by Whitey on the other day. So he was born on July 25th unlike Wiggle.

Hachi has a smooth-coated fur and bulge eyes.  He is the smallest among the siblings.Hachi  is also the most silent and kind dog. He will just look at you if he needs something.

There are two  peculiar qualities of Hachi. First, he does not want to kiss and be kissed. Second, after he pooped, he will not really sit down until you clean and remove his waste from the cage.

Our Chi Couple: Wako and Whitey

This is my Wako, a male chihuahua. He is the oldest dog in our family. We bought him last May 2012 just a few minutes when Wakowako died. Right now, he  is 5 yrs old.

At first, we often compared him to the late Wakowako. They said that Wako was not that sweet , not that smart, etc. But as days passed by, Wako has remarkable qualities that we start to love. He is an obedient and kind dog. He can stay in one place. He knows where to pee. It is easy for me to bath him , clean his teeth and ears etc. He knows how to sit when you tell him to sit down.

In his five years, he never gives problem to our family. He barks to the people he does not know but once you tap his head Wako will stop barking.

One of his hobbies is to sleep..hehe...And when he is at sleep, do not disturb him  and get near of him coz he will growl at you.

Wako is a healthy boy. He never get serious illness...and hopefully will not get through the years of his life.

Here is Whitey, our first female chihuahua. She came a year after we had Wako.  She is exactly the opposite of  Wako. She is like a kangaroo who loves to run and jump. It seems that she is not afraid that something might happen to her.

Whitey is also a sweet girl. She likes to kiss someone on the face even if he/she is sleeping.

One of the greatest moments in her life was when she got pregnant and gave birth to seven puppies. She did it in normal birth procedure. Imagine 7 puppies!!!!....we were really surprised that she made it. Actually we were afraid that time because for small breed like her, she might encounter problem. In fact, it was our veterinarian who did the procedure. With God's guidance, she was safe as well as her puppies.

One strange thing that happened was when she delivered the last puppy on the next day , July 25 at 1 am after she had her first six puppies on July 24 , 4pm. In other words, her youngest son has different birthdate than the rest.

I also found out that taking care of  seven puppies was so difficult. They needed to be breastfed from Whitey every two hours in a day. With that situation, Whitey the dam should produce plenty of milk to nourish her babies. And there were times Whitey did not want to lay down for breast feeding time but we really forced her coz the puppies need her milk to survive.

When the 7 puppies reached two months old, we looked for their new fur parents for we cannot really take care all of them. Two of them were not given out. They are Wiggle and Hachi.

Wakowako..running free in heaven

My love for dogs started when my uncle bought a male chihuahua  last January 2012.  We named him Wakowako which we got from a popular  television program of ABS-CBN.  He was so fragile and too small. At a young age, we felt his smartness and sweetness to every member of the family.

But an unexpected event happenend...one of the saddest moments in our house was when our very first Chihuahua baby died too young. Wakowako was just 5 months old then. It happened on May 17, 2012 ,past twelve in the afternoon. All of us were at home, since that day was a summer vacation. At that moment, he was just eating his dog food then suddenly he vomited and had difficulty in breathing. We were shocked and watched him grasping for his breath.

My cousin held him, opened his mouth for it was suspected that he was choked by his dog food. But in spite of that, he continued to vomit  and looked dying already. So we decided to rush him to a vet clinic but sadly he did not make it.
Sadness was felt in our house when we received a text message from my cousin. We prepared a box for him and readied ourselves that he will be leaving us. We talked and looked for answers what happened to him. Maybe he was choked while eating his dog food or maybe he got poisoned because he went out with my nephews before the incident happened. We did not blame anyone anymore. This just served as a lesson for every one of us. We really need to take care of the dogs if ever we are going to buy a new one.
At that day too we were surprised that my uncle bought a new chi that really looked like Wakowako. We named him WAKO.

Deep into my heart- I love them

I am in love with dogs since the time immemorial. I share a unexplained bond with them.  I love them just for the reason I was born to do so.

I have been carried away by their look, the way they see me, their wags and finally but most importantly their million dollar licks when I get back home. They really wait at the door when they know I am coming home. They dance with excitement when they see me. And they’re always deliriously ecstatic to see me.

I love talking to them as if they understand me, I am fond of  looking at them comfortably sleeping, sometimes with their tongue out.

I love them because they have no complains, nothing....just have sky-size hearts.

There are times that I scold them when they mess at home like  peeping on inappropriate places but  after a few minutes they will just look at me sadly and my anger will just disappear.

When I am feeling down and thinking no one loves me, I always have a snuggle partner to make me feel better. Why? Dogs love to snuggle, they love to put their heads in my lap, lie down beside me  and they let me know that no matter what, they love me, and always will.

The Evolution of Dogs

Ever wonder how dogs evolved?

From Pekingese to St. Bernard and greyhound, dogs come in such startling variety it's easy to forget they belong to the same species. The profusion of breeds today -- at least 150 -- reflects intense, purposeful interbreeding of dogs in the past 150 years.

At the same time, the entire history of dogs and their relationship with humans has undergone some rethinking recently, thanks in large part to high-tech molecular dating methods that can determine evolutionary relationships and chronologies.

The dog, Canis familiaris, is a direct descendent of the gray wolf, Canis lupus: In other words, dogs as we know them are domesticated wolves. Not only their behavior changed; domestic dogs are different in form from wolves, mainly smaller and with shorter muzzles and smaller teeth.

Darwin was wrong about dogs. He thought their remarkable diversity must reflect interbreeding with several types of wild dogs. But the DNA findings say differently. All modern dogs are descendants of wolves, though this domestication may have happened twice, producing groups of dogs descended from two unique common ancestors.

How and when this domestication happened has been a matter of speculation. It was thought until very recently that dogs were wild until about 12,000 years ago. But DNA analysis published in 1997 suggests a date of about 130,000 years ago for the transformation of wolves to dogs. This means that wolves began to adapt to human society long before humans settled down and began practicing agriculture.

This earlier timing casts doubt on the long-held myth that humans domesticated dogs to serve as guards or companions to assist them. Rather, say some experts, dogs may have exploited a niche they discovered in early human society and got humans to take them in out of the cold.
